What is Occlusal Splint?

Occlusal splints are acrylic apparatus produced individually to reduce pain and muscle spasms caused by dysfunctions caused by the incompatibility of the jaw joint with the teeth. In order to ensure the correct joint position and stabilise it, the necessary measurements are taken from the inside of the mouth and several fittings are made until the splint is brought to the optimal mould. Occlusal splint application aims to reduce abnormal muscle activity by interfering with the muscle-nerve reflex activity in the jaw area. Precautions are taken against the abrasion and destruction of the teeth caused by bite disorders or teeth clenching and grinding. If the person fully complies with the treatment deemed appropriate by the physician, is sensitive about the use and hygiene of the splint and does not interrupt the controls, the end of the complaints without the need for surgical intervention allows the person to continue his social life more comfortably and painlessly.
